Product Reviews for 40-695

I used the Delta 40-695 Scroll Saw in excess of 120-hours since purchasing the saw the first week of November 2012. The main projects I completed were Sheila Bergner-Landry's candle holders (Nativity scene, Moose, Gone Batty, Fall Leaves, and snowflake) and John A. Nelson's baskets (both "woven" and "brick"). I did not have a blade slip or break on any project, having used reverse skip-tooth blade sizes 2/0 to 7. One of the most beneficial features of the saw is the top-feed, which, considering the 96 interior cuts on the snowflake candle holder, could have been tedious if this feature was not available. The candle holders took between 4-hours and 6-hours to complete, and would have taken substantially longer if not for the top-feed feature. The candle holders require ~4-degree to 5-degree tilt for the riser, and the table was both easy to tilt and to return to horizontal. The saw has little to no vibration, and small frets, such as the bat eyes on Gone Batty, were cut cleanly with a 2/0 blade with no over or under cut.
I recommend this mid-range priced saw to scroll saw artists, especially those who complete fret work and interior cuts.

I ordered and recieved the Delta 40-695 recently. The quality became apparent as I was assembling the saw's stand and table. The saw has little vibration, is very quiet, the controls are easy to use and conveniently located, and the ease of threading the blade for fretwork is very efficient. The locking upper-arm is a welcome addition. The inclusion of a stand and light make this scroll saw a nice value. I have recommended the saw to the members of my scroll saw club, and to anyone in the market for a mid-priced scroll saw.

The Delta 40-695 scroll saw is an outstanding value at a very reasonable rate. I have been doing scroll saw work for about 10 years with the last 8 really fine tuning my craft. What I needed was a saw that was cost effective but loaded with user friendly features, after looking at all the top of the line saws I decided to go with this one. It is quiet, and has no vibrations that would play with any project. A huge, HUGE table. This is a great saw,the only draw back is the blade storage bin. I don't know any hobbiest that would use one anyway so no real problems there. The Warranty is second to none and they do back it. When I unpacked my unit the knob that locks the table was broken and they replaced it immediately. Great customer service and will recommend to anyone.

I just received my new Delta 40-695 scroll saw and it is everything I had hoped it would be. It is super smooth and quiet, vibration is almost non-existant. This is my third scroll saw. I started with a cheapie and soon discoverd I needed sometihg better for the intricate patterns I work on. After a bad experience with a used saw I decided to buy new. It was between DeWalt and Delta and Delta won out. Similar saws but the Delta is better for the following reasons. Nice work light, longer warranty, comes with the stand and work light and the DeWalt doesn't. They are options. I am an advanced hobbyist woodworker and I would give this saw the highest rating possible. Good stuff...!!!
