Product Reviews for 36-725

I needed to replace my old table saw, so looked at the offerings from other manufacturers. I did not want a full size cabinet saw, but didn't want the limitations presented by most of the contractor's type saws. This narrowed it down to 2 other brands and the Delta, all priced around the $600 mark. I liked the one brand's mobility and the extendable table, but went with the Delta because of several factors.
    1. The Delta 36-725 will cut a standard 4x4 in one pass.
    2. 30 inch rip capacity
    3. The "T-Square" fence rivals expensive accessory fences
    4. Cast iron table, with heavy steel extension plates
    5. Standard 3/4" miter slots
    6. Blade height/cut depth and angle can be locked to ensure dado cuts are consistent
    7. When set, the saw is solid with no wobble or shaking
The saw is heavy, it is one of a few "contractor" saws in this price range with a cast iron table. It assembled fairly easy, but the instructions were a little vague at times. Delta did include a gauge to ensure the alignment of the front & rear rails. The manual also included alignment instructions for the fence and miter gauge. Overall, the assembly time took me right about an hour. With the tricycle wheel lowered, the saw moves around fairly easy. With the wheel raised and the levelers on the ground, the saw is a solid as can be, unlike most of the contractor saws (including the Bosch).
After a quick tweak of the fence, I made a few test cuts. The blade alignment was spot on, as was the miter gauge. I did have to back off on my tweak of the rip fence just a hair. The test cuts impressed me, but the performance of the saw impressed me more. The saw cut through 1x oak like butter, and left nice, clean edges. The saw is also very quiet and hearing protection is not needed.
I spent most of the afternoon and early evening making sawdust, cutting wood for several projects to size. It went smoother and faster than with my old saw. The fence was accurate enough that when I needed to cut a 16x30 panel, I didn't even measure prior to cutting. I set the fence and cut and the finished piece was right at 16x30.
I did look for zero clearance and dado throat plates but they were unavailable. I did make my own that were waiting for epoxy to set prior to final fitting and adjustment. While shopping for clamps on-line, I noticed that the Zero Clearance (36-501) and the dado (36-502) throat plates are now available!
An added bonus was that the gentleman from Lowe's was helping me load it into my truck, he noticed that I had military plates, and he took me back into the store to get a 10% discount!
I would definitely recommend this saw over any of the others in this price range.

Purchased this “Contractor” model 36-725 saw in Jan 2014 to replace an old Delta model 34-444. My experience is as an intermediate home woodworker (25-30 yrs). Very pleased with the 36-725. Had no problem with assembly; but, recommend that new purchasers view the updated users manual available online at this web site. On a scale of 1-5, I rate this saw a 5. I would recommend this saw to others.

Purchased this “Contractor” model 36-725 saw in Jan 2014 to replace an old Delta model 34-444. My experience is as an intermediate home woodworker (25-30 yrs). Very pleased with the 36-725. It is much improved over the old 34-444. Had no problem with assembly; but, recommend that new purchasers view the updated users manual available online at this web site. On a scale of 1-5, I rate this saw a 5. I would recommend this saw to others. I would like to see the availability of an upgraded throat plate, a dado throat plate and some repair parts.
